Fall 2016: Autumn Colors
Monitor Pass

I processed this using Photoshop and Nik Color Efex Pro. I love the bright yellow Aspen behind the seemingly taller Aspen in the foreground.
Sonora Pass

I drove up Sonora Pass in mid-September. The trees were just starting to turn, but I found this color just east of the Pass.
Hope Valley Area

I drove up CA 88 in late September to check the fall colors. I hiked a short distance to get above Sorensen’s Resort and found this view.

I wasn’t satisfied with the starburst, so I tried some new filters in the Nik Analog Efex collection. This particular filter uses ‘bokeh’ and a blurred vignette.

While exploring the Nik Analog Efex filters, I tried some black and white filters. Nik Analog makes the images look like film, with film edge and dust overlays. Not sure I like this particular effect, but it was fun to try new things!
Blue Lake Road

…and I turned around and saw this! When taking pictures, don’t forget to turn around and look in all directions, so you don’t miss potential shots.
January 2016: Panoramas
October 2015: Panoramas and fall colors.

Taylor Creek, Lake Tahoe. This is a pond formed by a beaver pond. The visitor trail is on the right. I used about 8 images to make this panorama.

This is a view of the mountains on the west side of Lake Tahoe, from one of the observation decks near the Taylor Creek Visitor Center. I used about 8 images to make this panorama.

This is a small panorama, made from a handful of images, and taken from the observation bridge near the Streambed Chamber at Taylor Creek.

Fall colors along East Valley Road in Douglas County, NV. Behind these trees is an industrial park. The park developers intentionally created this view.

I took the pictures to make this panorama in 2008, and just put it together. The Sierra Nevada Mountains from the Carson Valley.
September 2015: More sunsets and a sunrise treat.
August 2015: Sunsets!
California has been on fire, literally. We enjoy gorgeous sunsets as a result. All of these are shot from my yard.
August 2015: ATV group ride, Lake Tahoe.
June 2015: Cactus flowers – unfortunately, all the blooms are gone until next year.
June 2015: Quartz Peak ATV ride.
April 2015 – just pretty stuff!
March 2015 – some new scenery!

This tree is growing at the top of a road cut. Over the years, the slope has eroded away, exposing the root system. This tree has survived for many years, including a recent windstorm with hurricane force winds.
November 19, 2014 – I found this Coyote in a hay meadow along SR 88, just south of Douglas High School. He looks well fed, just like the
Raptors in the Carson Valley.
When you can’t find bears, you make images of whatever you find. This Coyote was in full hunt mode, and paid no attention to us as he was working on getting some dinner.
I’ll insert bear pictures in this page. Enjoy!!
