PS Challenge – June 30, 2017

Today’s PS Challenge image is the right drive wheel of a 1910 Sears Model R pickup. This vehicle was a prop in a photo shoot I did recently and I was intrigued by the lines and light.

I shot this handheld, bracketed exposures, merged in Adobe Camera Raw, and processed in PhotoShop with a Photo RAW filter.

PS Challenge – June 26, 2017

Today’s PS Challenge image comes from the Virginia Range, north of Stagecoach NV. I made this image a few weeks ago when I was out with my old retired guy ATV group. We encountered several bands of wild horses on the ride. Three of these four were more concerned with the guys in the lead, but one kept his eye on me. Bracketed exposures combined in Adobe Camera Raw, cropped in PhotoShop with a filter from Nik Color Efex Pro.

PS Challenge – June 25, 2017

Today’s PS Challenge comes from the dining area at Walker Burger in Walker CA. My lovely bride and I took the Bullitt for a spin and ended up there. Love their burgers! If you haven’t had one, you don’t know what you’re missing! But those if us who have eaten there know!

They have a wonderful outdoor eating area with picnic tables, trees, lawn, yard art, and bird houses and feeders. I tried to catch some of the little birds on the feeder, but you can imagine how that went. Here’s one of the beautiful bird feeders/art works on display. I bracketed exposures, processed it in PhotoMatix and PhotoShop, and added a little filter from On1 PhotoRAW.

PS Challenge – June 15, 2017

Today’s PS Challenge comes from Lake Tahoe. My lovely bride and I took a drive to the Lake yesterday and hiked around the Taylor Creek Visitor’s Center. We didn’t do the Rainbow Trail – we took the Lake of the Sky Trail to the Kiva Beach area.

For those of you who don’t recognize her, this is my lovely bride. She looks very relaxed since she retired and is sporting a new hairdo!

PS Challenge – June 10, 2017

Today’s PS Challenge image comes from East Valley Road in the Carson Valley. A couple days ago, we had a nice storm front come through, bringing cooler temperatures and some interesting and gorgeous skies. This is a view of Genoa Peak and Duane Bliss Peak, in the Sierras and forming the northwest border of the Carson Valley.

I couldn’t resist processing the image in black and white to bring out the drama.

PS Challenge – June 6, 2017

Today’s PS Challenge image comes from our backyard, the rose bush along the wall behind my shop. I love this little rose bush and the blooms are beautiful. I have to work on my photography skills for this flower – so far I haven’t made the shot I have in my mind. I decided to share this, however, so just ENJOY! PHOTOROGR

PS Challenge – June 5, 2017

A couple days ago, my lovely bride and I decided to take a hike along the Carson River Trail. I hiked the trail a couple months ago, before the mosquitoes hatched and gained air superiority along the River. Since I didn’t have insect repellent in the PhotoRanger, we cut the hike short to preserve my legs. For the first time ever, someone (meaning the mosquitoes) thought I was sweeter than Susan. Please note – I placed a bottle of Off in the PhotoRanger so I’m not caught unarmed again!

While we were on the trail, however, I grabbed a quick shot of the River with the Sierras in the background. The ‘vee’ in the water to the right of the big tree is a Cinnamon Teal swimming away, but trying to maintain a cool demeanor as he did so.

PS Challenge – June 4, 2017

Today’s PS Challenge include 2 images (landscape and detail) taken at Jake’s Wetlands in Minden NV. I found these Daisies on a hillside along the path on the southwest side of the wetlands. The view of Jobs Peak and the Sierras in the background is a bonus!

More landscapes and details…

In my post on April 15 (https://photorogr.com/2017/04/15/landscapes-and-details/), I discussed a method to document one’s photo adventures by showing broad landscapes with a shot or two providing a little detail into the scene. During our trip out the other day, my lovely bride and I saw fields of Western Blue Flag flowers on the valley floor. I found this scene just off Mottsville Lane.

There was a very wet ditch between me and the scene, so I included the barb wire in the composition.

I used the big lens to make this close up image of a Western Blue Flag.
